18-Year-Old Fatally Shot In McKeesport

McKEESPORT (KDKA) -- Authorities continue to investigate an overnight shooting in McKeesport that claimed the life of a teenager.

Family and friends say 18-year-old Chauncey Williams, of Duquesne, just graduated from East Allegheny High School and had a bright future ahead of him.

However, Williams died early Sunday morning after he was shot outside a home in the 1300-block of Craig Street.

"He was a good kid. He was on his way to CCAC," said one person who knew Williams but didn't want to be identified. "He had a graduation party coming on Thursday."

Police found a number of shell casings on the sidewalk between the homes.

According to neighbors, the gunman reportedly walked down the sidewalk and shot the victim in the back as he sat on the back porch of the home.

Neighbors say they heard gunshots just before police showed up and found Williams on the porch.

No motive was given and no description is available of the suspect who authorities say drove away after the shooting.

"He wasn't in no kind of trouble," said the woman who knew Williams. "He was just over here on the porch. He wasn't even out running the streets. He wasn't that kind of kid."

Williams was a standout running back on the East Allegheny High School football team. He was planning to work this summer before starting classes at CCAC.

"Wouldn't think that he would be dead, just ridiculous," she added. "He wasn't that type of kid. He didn't play in the streets. Just sad, an innocent kid; he didn't deserve this."

Anyone with information on the case is being asked to call Allegheny County police.
