Dole Issues Recall Over Listeria Concerns

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A major food company is recalling more than 2,500 bags of lettuce.

Officials with Dole say they are voluntarily recalling some of the company's "Hearts of Romaine Salad" because of Listeria monocytogenes concerns.

Symptoms of infection can include fever, muscle aches, nausea or diarrhea.

The bags in question were distributed in nine states, including Pennsylvania.

They had a use-by date of June 26, but only ones with certain UPC codes are being recalled.

The product being recalled is Dole Hearts of Romaine coded 0540N165112A or B, with Use-by date of June 26 and UPC 7143000956.

Consumers who have any remaining product with those codes should not consume it, but rather throw it away.

Anyone with questions can call the Dole Food Company Consumer Response Center at: (800) 356-3111. It is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (PT) Mondays through Fridays.
