Man Kills Self Outside State Police Barracks In Uniontown

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) -- A man took his own life today right outside of a state police barracks in Uniontown.

"All we know is that we have a middle aged male - appears to be at this time a self-inflicted gunshot wound," Fayette County Deputy Coroner Paul Kondrla said.

Police say the man parked his pickup truck in the parking lot.

Troopers say he got out of the truck and shot himself once outside of the building's front entrance.

A state trooper discovered the man's body.

"I walked outside I was getting something out of my patrol vehicle and saw the gentleman lying against the building," State Police Corporal Rich Quinn said.

"I immediately rushed in and called for an ambulance and some other personnel in the back, we [came] out, checked for vital signs. We didn't find any."

Police say the man was in his 60s and lived in Connellsville.
