Construction Projects To Impact Weekend Traffic Downtown

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - If you're coming into town this weekend, there are some big road projects you need to know about.

"Getting back out of town, yes, you are going to have a challenge," Jim Struzzi, a spokesman for PennDOT, said.

The inbound side of the Parkway East between Grant Street and the Fort Pitt Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until noon on Saturday.

Traffic will be detoured through downtown.

Also, the ramp from the Liberty Bridge inbound to Crosstown Boulevard will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday.

"The ramp from Liberty Avenue that would put you straight onto the lower deck of the Fort Pitt Bridge heading outbound and also the ramp from Fort Duquesne Boulevard, 10th Street Bypass to the outbound Fort Pitt Bridge – those two ramps will be closed from approximately midnight through Monday morning," Struzzi said.

The ramps from the 10th Street Bypass and Fort Duquesne Boulevard to the Fort Pitt Bridge will be closed from midnight tonight through Monday at 5 a.m.

Keep these closures in mind if you're going to a Pittsburgh Pirates game over the weekend.

"It's great that the Pirates are doing so well and they're bringing in lots of crowds, but the work has to get done," Struzzi said.
