Neighbors On Edge After String Of Duquesne Fires
DUQUESNE (KDKA) - There are growing concerns in the City of Duquesne after a string of suspicious fires.
There have been five fires in the last three days, with three on Thursday night alone.
One was at a house on North Second Street. The family wasn't home at the time, but neighbors had to be evacuated.
"You're messing with people's lives. You may think you're [going to] burn down an empty building, but as close as these house are, we could have been left without a roof. We could have been left without a home," Elizabeth Edwards Gaynor said.
"That's all that you ever hear that comes out of Duquesne – shooting or fires. I'm used to it. Shooting or fires, that's all I hear," Tracey Johnson said.
The other fires were in two vacant homes and two garages.
