1 Dead In McKees Rocks Shooting

MCKEES ROCKS (KDKA) – Police are investigating a fatal Monday morning shooting in McKees Rocks.

According to police, the shooting happened in the 1200-block of Vine Street around 4 a.m.

Loved ones gathered just feet away from where the body of 19-year-old Javon Riley was shot early this morning.

Police said he was fatally shot in the head and was just left in the street.

"It's about as cold-blooded as you can get," McKees Rocks Police Chief Robert Cifrulak said. "The victim was found lying in the street behind what we later learned was his girlfriend's car."

McKees Rocks Police are working with Allegheny County Police to look for evidence and speak with neighbors and potential witnesses.

Police believe it was sometime after 4 a.m. when Riley was shot, but his body was not discovered until hours later.

"He received a phone call and left immediately after he received the phone call sometime after 4 a.m." Chief Cifrulak said. "He left the home suddenly and she didn't know why."

Police said they did not find a weapon on Riley and are looking into whether the alleged phone call he took was a ploy to lure him outside.

The investigation is still in the very early stages, but police remain hopeful they will develop leads and a suspect.

"With the bits and pieces of information, this will lead to an arrest. That's the hope," Chief Cifrulak said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
