'The Dark Knight Rises' Makes Pittsburgh Premiere

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- It was stretch limos, bright lights and plenty of excitement for the Pittsburgh premiere of the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises."

Invited guests got a sneak peek of the film at the Byham Theater in downtown Pittsburgh Tuesday evening.

The movie was partially shot in Pittsburgh, and some of the Steelers, including Ben Roethlisberger and former Steeler Hines Ward, are featured in one part of the film.

Ward is seen running in a preview of the film as Heinz Field explodes behind him.

He says he actually felt the explosion. He also says he was wearing earplugs and screaming as he ran.

"I was literally running scared," said Ward. "I never ran scared in my life."

However, he and others say the film is "awesome."

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl was at the premiere, and he's also in the film playing a kicker for the opposing team.

The movie's co-producer and a part owner of the Steelers, Thomas Tull, hosted the premiere.

KDKA's John Shumway reports:

"Being able to take Batman and Steeler football and put them together in one thing is pretty spectacular," said Tull.

The movie opens in theaters this Friday.
