Vandals Target Upper St. Clair

UPPER ST. CLAIR (KDKA) -- The vandals in Upper St. Clair have struck everywhere.

They threw a rock through the stain glass window at St. Gregory's Church, another rock through the window of the pool clubhouse and may have used an ax on one homeowner's brand new $10,000 front door.

"It's property that is very expensive and it's upsetting when you wake up in the morning and find it being damaged," the homeowner told KDKA-TV.

Upper St. Clair's neighborhoods have been the target of dozens of attacks from vandals over the past two months.

They've caused tens of thousands of dollars of damage and they've frustrated police.

"All the while though it continued to escalate and we now have well into the dozens of reported acts of criminal mischief," Upper St. Clair Police Lt. James Englert said.

The vandals strike late at night using rocks and possibly an ax.

The victims find it hard to understand.

"I don't know," one homeowner said. "I don't know if it's kids driving, just kids out at night, I don't know."

Police are asking neighbors to be vigilant. Call police immediately if you hear something.

Don't wait until morning because often it's too late, police say.
