Montour Run Overflows Banks, Floods Imperial

FINDLAY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The village of Imperial, located in Findlay Township, got pounded with heavy rain Friday afternoon.

The downpour lasted less than a couple of hours, but it was long enough to cause some flooding along Montour Run, a creek adjacent to Main Street in the small community.

Homeowner Bill Guiney said he was home making dinner when he looked out the window and saw the water in the creek rising fast.

Guiney told KDKA-TV: "the next thing I knew, in the blink of an eye, [my] whole yard was filled with water."

Water from the creek also partially spilled into Guiney's basement.

The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department was busy pumping out several basements.

At least one road in the village was closed down temporarily because of flooding.

"This is about the fifth time that the creek has flooded some of his property," said Shawn Jones, another homeowner. "We get two or three inches of rain at one time, and that's when the creek water rises."
