4-1-Zoo: Former Panther Aaron Berry Cut From Lions

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Former Pitt cornerback Aaron Berry was arrested for the second time this year, prompting the Detroit Lions to cut him from their roster Monday.

Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said Berry's contract was terminated because of conduct that was detrimental to the team.

Berry was arrested Saturday on three counts of simple assault. Police have said there was a weapon involved in the incident.

Berry's first arrest this offseason came on June 23 on suspicion of DUI, failure to stop and other counts. His agent, Corky Goldstein, issued the following statement:

"I would just hope that everybody just holds their judgment on this matter," Goldstein said Sunday. "There's a lot more to this situation. ... I know Aaron is very upset over this whole situation. Let's give the opportunity for all the facts to come out."

Berry was looking at a potential starting role with the Lions this season. He started three games for them last season, his rookie year.
