Teen With Assault Rifle Arrested In Butler County

BOYERS (KDKA) -- A teenager from Butler County is facing a list of charges after police say he pointed an "AK-type rifle" at family members and told them they had 10 minutes to get out of the house.

It happened in the small town of Boyers.

A man who lives in the home says the teenager, who is 17, was setting a stand for his rifle in the home's front yard, but that he ran into the woods when he learned that police were coming.

No shots were fired.

Police surrounded the area – even evacuated one home. Eventually, they convinced the teen to turn himself in.

They say they later recovered his rifle and a bayonet in the woods.

The teenager is charged as a juvenile. He faces charges of making terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
