Head-On Crash In Redstone Twp. Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Injured

REDSTONE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- One person is dead and another was injured in a head-on collision late Wednesday night in Fayette County.

The crash happened just before midnight on Route 40 in Redstone Township.

Anthony Balosky, 35, of Republic, was driving from his mother's house back to Shumar's Welding where he worked when a truck crossed the center line and hit him head-on.

The truck ran up over the Balosky's car and catapulted into a utility pole before hitting a building and stopping about 200-feet away.

The truck caught fire and the driver was flown to UPMC Mercy Hospital.

Balosky was trapped in his car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Redstone police are investigating whether alcohol and or speed played a role in the crash.

The victim's longtime girlfriend says they were supposed to be spending Thursday at Kennywood with the victim's 10 and 12 year old sons, but instead the family is planning a funeral.

She was too shaken to go on camera, but wanted people to remember him as a wonderful person who would do anything for anyone.
