PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A special election was held today to replace former State Sen. Jane Orie.

Earlier this year, Orie was convicted on corruption charges.

Democrat Sharon Brown and Republican Randy Vulakovich ran for the seat in the 40th District, which includes parts of Allegheny and Butler counties.

Vulakovich defeated Brown and will serve the final two years of Orie’s term.
