Police Searching For Missing Lawrence Co. Inmate
NEW CASTLE (KDKA) -- Police are searching for a prison inmate who they say was released from jail to attend a funeral and has not yet returned to the facility.
According to the New Castle Police Department, Durand Lawson was released from the Lawrence County Jail on furlough to go to a family member's funeral.
Police say he was supposed to return to the jail by 2:30 p.m. Saturday, but failed to do so.
Lawson had been locked up on felony charges.
New Castle police say they have now filed escape charges against him.
