PORTERSVILLE (KDKA) — Crews were called to Moraine State Park in Butler County Sunday morning after a man disappeared in Lake Arthur during a fishing trip.

Officials say the 42-year-old man went missing overnight on the lake.

They believe he was fishing with three friends when he jumped from the boat near the boat launch along Route 528 around 1 a.m. and did not resurface.

“The three friends indicated that they were fishing for the day around 6 p.m. and were on their way back to the 528 launch when the individual decided to jump in the water,” said Matt Weiland, the assistant park manager.

Police say he was not wearing a life vest.

Police haven’t released the name of the man.

The search was suspended between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. It will resume Monday morning.
