12-Year-Old Girl Recounts Child Luring Incident In Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE (KDKA) -- Authorities are on the lookout for a child luring suspect.

Kaylona Brooks, 12, walks to and from her friend's house in Brownsville almost every day.

She was walking on Fifth Avenue around 10 p.m. Tuesday when she had the scare of a lifetime.

"This guy stopped me and he was like, 'Hey you're cute. I always see you walking around here.'

"And I was like, 'Aww thanks.'

"And he was like, 'Get in the car.'

"And I was like, 'No!' He turned around and like drove on the sidewalk and I called my friend and I was like, 'Please come get me I need help' And when I that he pulled my hair."

Kaylona got away and ran to a nearby park where she hid. The man followed her through a parking lot until she disappeared from sight.

"I think probably he was trying to kidnap me because why else would he stop me," she said.

The man fled and hasn't been seen since.

Kaylona says this encounter has changed her and she'll now be taking some extra precautions.

"Just don't walk alone at night because you never know what could happen," she said.

The suspect was driving a rusty white car. He's described as an older black man who is balding and missing some teeth.
