Michael McKenry Bounces Back After 19-Inning Win

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Pirates Catcher Michael McKenry joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about what it was like catching 19-straight innings in the teams 6-3 inning marathon game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

McKenry also caught the entire 19-inning game last year against the Braves and said it was easier to recover from this years game because there wasn't as much emotional baggage as there was when they lost to the Braves given the way that game ended.

The Pirates have been struggling a bit recently, and we discussed with McKenry the players only meeting that was called by A.J. Burnett, and what those meetings are like.

McKenry talked about the meeting saying "it's just a reminder of, you know, it's our team, we need to focus on us, we need to play our game, and not get caught up in anything else."

McKenry also discussed what it has been like this year establishing himself as a major leaguer and what he is doing to help the team out in any way he can.
