Woman Killed In Fawn Township Crash

FAWN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A woman is dead following a two-vehicle accident in Fawn Township Wednesday evening.

Investigators say a woman from Fawn Township lost control on a curve on Route 908 near Howes Run Road and struck a minivan with three children inside.

The victim has now been identified as 67-year-old Barbara Daniels of Curtisville.

"The person who's deceased apparently crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck the vehicle with about four occupants – a mother, one daughter and two sons," Fawn Township Police Chief Tim Mayberry said.

No one in the van was seriously injured. The force of the crash pushed the minivan atop a guardrail.

Judging by the skid marks, police say speed was a factor in the crash. This is not the first accident in this area.

"We've had a lot of citizens come forward about the speeding and about the accidents – it's very frustrating," Chief Mayberry said. "Matter of fact, every time I come to work every morning on Howes Run Road, I have to creep through the intersection because it's very dangerous."

Allegheny County Police are investigating the crash. Names of the crash victims have not been released.
