Late Night Wilkinsburg Shooting Leaves 15-Year-Old Dead

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- Police continue to investigate as some residents along one street in Wilkinsburg are calling for an end to gun violence following a late night shooting that claimed the life of a 15-year-old.

Neighbors who live near the corner of Wallace Avenue and Coal Street say they heard as many as 15 gunshots within a few minutes Friday night.

A resident, who did not want to be identified, says he saw several people in black clothing running from the scene.

"This was crazy; I mean a lot of gunfire, sounded like a warzone," he told KDKA's Bob Allen. "I then came outside. There was a man lying on the sidewalk; gun laying right there."

Emery Lamberto, 15, was pronounced dead at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital from multiple gunshot wounds.

Two other men were wounded.

Another neighbor, who also did not want to be identified, says she believes Lamberto and the others may have been chased by other men with guns. She remembers seeing Lamberto around the neighborhood.

"All I know is someone very close to me got wounded and the violence needs to stop," she said. "I just know him from being around the other kids and stuff in the neighborhood, but he wasn't no troubled kid though."

Allegheny County homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. So far, no motive has been given.

Meanwhile, neighbors say they are tired of the violence and want it to come to an end.

"It's tragic; a little 15-year-old is dead," one neighbor added.
