Police Investigating After Baby Admitted To Hospital For Burn Injuries

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police are investigating after they say a baby was admitted to UPMC Mercy Hospital Saturday night with scalding and burn injuries.

According to investigators, the 8-month-old boy was last listed in stable condition with burn injuries to his lower body.

Police say the boy suffered the injuries in Crafton Heights and investigators were called to the hospital just before 10:30 p.m.

Authorities say they have interviewed one of the child's parents and continue to investigate the incident.

"Our sex assault detectives went out and interviewed the mother, and based on their investigation, they will present the facts to the District Attorney's Office to decide whether any charges will be filed," said Commander Thomas Stangrecki, of Pittsburgh Police.

The identities of the boy and his parents have not been released.
