Salmonella Concerns Prompt Mango Recall

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A company is recalling mangos because they could be contaminated with salmonella.

If you've purchased Daniella Mangos, supplied by Splendid Products, LLC, since July 28, 2012, throw them out.

The mangos were sold at local Giant Eagle stores. In a statement, the grocer says it is taking action.

"Giant Eagle is one of multiple retailers impacted by this recall. Upon receiving this information, Giant Eagle immediately removed all potentially affected products from sale.

"Additionally, a register sale block has been implemented to ensure that none of the produce is inadvertently purchased.

"Finally, phone calls are being made to those customers who made mango purchases after the affected date with a Giant Eagle Advantage Card and have a valid phone number in the database."

If you still have your mangos, you can return them to Giant Eagle for a refund.
