Local Widow Pleads For Information In Husband's Murder

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) – A local father was shot and killed on his way home and police don't know why he was targeted.

"When they kept saying, 'Tim got shot,' I'm like, 'Tim who?' you know what I'm saying, not thinking they're talking about - because my husband was not supposed to die of gun violence at all," Shiree Boyd, the victim's wife, said.

But that's exactly how Timothy Boyd was killed earlier this month while walking home.

Police say Boyd was on Pitt Street in Wilkinsburg around 3 a.m. on August 9th when he was ambushed from behind.

"A witness was developed who stated that they saw three men walk up behind Boyd as he walked down Pitt Street and eventually shoot him multiple times," Allegheny County Police Detective Robert Opferman said.

Boyd's wife says he was kind and friendly – a non-violent person who wanted to enjoy life.

He was a husband, a father and grandfather. His family still can't believe he's gone.

"I want them to try to walk a mile in my shoes and if it was their loved one, how would they feel?" Boyd said.

"Please help us, we need closure, my kids need closure, my grandkids – that's the only grandfather they ever knew," she continued.

The Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers number is 412-255-8477. Help solve the case and get paid up to $1,000. Callers can remain anonymous.
