Pirates Hitting Coach Impressed With Pedro's Performance
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Pirates Hitting Coach Gregg Ritchie caught up with Joe Starkey of Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN after Pedro Alvarez's two homerun performance Tuesday night against the Cardinals to discuss Pedro's shots, as well as Andrew McCutchen showing signs of ending his recent slump.
Ritchie said the most impressive thing about Pedro's performance was the consistency in each at bat, and added "something the fans always need to remember: This guy is pouring blood, sweat and tears into this thing."
When it comes to McCutchen working his way out of his slump, Ritchie gave Joe an inside look into what efforts have been made, and what sort of practices they had to help him square up on the ball again.
Ritchie also offered up his thoughts on Neil Walker's season, how he's handling his dislocated finger, and the season Garrett Jones is having.
