Local School Sanitized After MRSA Report

PLUM (KDKA) --- An elementary school in the Plum Borough School District has been "completely sanitized" after a reported case of MRSA.

In a statement released by the School District, it was explained that a confirmed case of MRSA at Pivik Elementary School was reported on Wednesday night.

It does not state whether the person is a student, teacher, or staff member, but does say that "the affected individual is currently receiving treatment."

MRSA is a type of Staph bacteria that is resistant to certain antibiotics and can cause skin infections.

In the statement, the district states that all necessary precautions have been taken.
