Funeral Arrangements Set For Police Sergeant Killed In Motorcycle Crash

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Funeral services have been announced for the Allegheny County police sergeant who was killed in a motorcycle accident last weekend.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the viewings for Sgt. Perry Vahaly of Clairton will be held on Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home in Jefferson Hills.

The funeral service has been set for Saturday, Sept. 8, in the auditorium of Thomas Jefferson High School at 11 a.m.

Sgt. Vahaly was a 17-year veteran of the Allegheny County Police Department.

The accident happened early last Saturday on State Route 51 in Rostraver Township when a deer ran out into the road.

Vahaly died from his injuries just after 10 p.m. Saturday night at Allegheny General Hospital.
