Community Mourns Teen Killed In Skateboarding Accident

CHALFANT (KDKA) -- A community is in mourning after a tragic skateboarding accident claimed the life of a Woodland Hills High School student last week.

Family, friends and community members gathered in Chalfant this weekend for a candlelight vigil for Henry "Hank the Tank" Woodall.

Teenagers aren't supposed to have to say a final goodbye to their friends, but Sunday night, teens were faced with the difficult task of saying goodbye to the beloved 16-year-old.

"All these kids know Henry and they love him like he was their own family," said Marlena Kunha, Woodall's aunt. "He was a good boy."

Woodall, a student at Woodland Hills High School, had been skateboarding Thursday – doing what's known as a "ripstik" – when he hit his head on the street, had a seizure and he never recovered.

"He's given the gift of life to other kids," said Kunha. "He was on the organ donor list and his heart was given to a 13-year-old girl in Illinois today."

Counselors will be available at the high school on Monday to help the students try to cope with their grief.

Classes have been canceled Wednesday at the Christ Lutheran Elementary School so Hank the Tank's teachers can attend his memorial service.

And now, it's is the larger community his parents will have to lean on because their only son won't be coming home again.
