Beaver Co. DJ's Vast CD Collection Stolen

BEAVER (KDKA) -- Monday through Saturday, Optometrist Dr. John Guzzetti only has eyes for his patients on State Avenue in Beaver.

He was leaving a restaurant with his wife when he noticed something was wrong.

"I happened to glance in the back and I go, 'There's only one case. Where are the rest of my CD's?'" he said.

For the past 30 years, the good doctor is also "Dr. Duke" the disc jockey. He's a big John Wayne fan.

Over his years of spinning digital platters at gigs like weddings and reunions, the doctor accumulated an amazing collection from Big Band sounds to Oldies to Hip Hop.

Last weekend, somebody stole that collection from his Chevy SUV.

"Four big cases, 250 CD's per case, you know about 1,000 CD's missing," Dr. Guzzetti said.

A-to-R in his alphabetized system is gone. That means no "Chicken Dance."

"I'd have to download it I guess," he says laughing.

The doctor spent $15,000 to $20,000 on his music, but what he had is irreplaceable.

"I was flabbergasted," he said. "Why would someone do that? What value would it be to somebody else except a disc jockey?"

But Dr. Duke may yet return to the turntable. His brethren in the business - DJ's from all over the tri-state area hearing about the theft are offering donations.

"It's amazing how in times of adversity, people around here just come to the forefront," he said.

If you have any information that might lead to the return of Dr. Guzzetti's CD collection, he's offering a $4,000 reward. Beaver County Crime Solvers is also offering additional reward money.
