Panther Hollow: Graham Meshing Well With New Coaches
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — In his four years at Pitt, senior running back Ray Graham has had three full-time head football coaches (technically, four, including the disgraced Mike Haywood). That could stunt the development of any player, but Graham feels comfortable under his new superiors.
"Coach Chryst is a players' coach. He's a real cool dude," Graham said after practice on the South Side. "He knows how to switch channels, he knows when it is time to play football, and he knows when it is just time to chill and relax."
He ran for 94 yards and a touchdown on eight attempts last Saturday, a 55-10 blowout of Gardner-Webb at Heinz Field, and he enters next Friday's Big East contest against the Orange with 362 yards rushing and three scores, plus a clean bill of health.
"You weren't going to ask me about my knee, were you?" a smiling Graham joked as the media excused themselves.
He added that Coach Chryst listens to what the players have to say, which is a huge asset during this bye week, and he also discussed how the team plans on cutting down on penalties in the future:
