2 Local Men Develop New Game App With Pittsburgh Ties

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - If you enjoy playing games on your smartphone or other mobile device, listen up.

There is a new family-friendly game with a strong Pittsburgh connection.

The game is called "First Sight." The objective of the game is to be the first person to correctly guess the picture underneath a game board. The game board is made up of a specific number of tiles that correspond to the level of difficulty.

The game was developed by two East Allegheny High School graduates, Jason Shurgot and Joe Blasko.

They worked for months designing, developing, and taking pictures. They say they wanted to make sure their hometown was well represented in the game.

"I would say 80 percent of all the photos in the game today are based in Pittsburgh. You will see things like Kennywood Park, some of the stadiums and the fountains," Shurgot said.

Shurgot said the original idea for the game came from teaching his three young nephews' vocabulary. It took off from there and after hours and hours of hard work, the game is ready to go.

"We're just a two-man team, so we've been working late nights, all weekends, just to try to get this game out on the app store," Blasko said.

There are two versions of the game. One is free, the other costs $0.99. The paid version gives you more levels and other features like custom backgrounds. Both versions show off the Steel City's most popular and iconic spots.

"We are Pittsburgh boys, we love all the sports, we love the area, we love all four seasons, everything about Pittsburgh is great," Blasko said.

"It is a beautiful city, we love it, we've been here our whole lives and we don't really plan on leaving," Shurgot said.

The Apple version of the game will be available in just a few days. Android users will have to wait a couple of weeks.
