Body Of Missing Boater Found

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Authorities have found the body of a man who went missing on Lake Arthur more than a week ago.

Brian Cornetti, 52, of Prospect, went missing around 10 p.m. Oct. 26.

His body was found close to where he disappeared, near one of the lake's boat launches, according to the park's assistant manager.

Authorities say he was likely raccoon hunting around the lake in Moraine State Park. Cornetti navigated his small boat along the shore of the lake and searched for raccoons.

Park officials say he regularly visited Lake Arthur.

After he went missing, police suspected that while on shore, Cornetti's boat may have drifted away and he drowned while trying to go after it.

His empty boat still carrying his belongings – including a life vest – was found in the lake the next day.

This month, a new state law also went into effect requiring that boaters in vessels smaller than 16 feet wear a life vest.
