Pirates Owner: Front Office Staff Will Remain Intact

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Joe Starkey of Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN sat down with Pirates Owner Bob Nutting today to talk about his decision to retain his front office staff.

Nutting said he has spent the past four weeks looking back on the collapse at the end of the season and evaluating his staff. It was important to him to take this deep look within the organization.

They have a stronger organization, are moving in the right direction and have made significant progress with this front office staff, Nutting says.

When it came to discussing the Pirates' military training in the minor leagues, Nutting said, "We need to be baseball-centric, we need to recognize we're not a paramilitary organization."

Nutting elaborated on those comments saying he does "believe that there are valuable lessons that we can learn from elite organizations."

Things wrapped up with Nutting discussing the team's payroll moving forward.
