Jamie Dixon Previews 2012-13 Pitt Hoops Season

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- Pitt basketball head coach Jamie Dixon joined The Fan Morning Show to preview the team's 2012-13 campaign, which tips off on Friday night at 6 p.m. on The Fan.

Dixon explained that he's upbeat about this season, but knows the road will always be tough.

"There's obviously excitement, but at the same time you have to know there are many games," Dixon said. "It's a journey."

He told the guys that star freshman center Steven Adams has been developing well, but has had to made adjustments as practices have ramped up.

"He's adjusted great to the school and to the city," Dixon said. "[But] there's a whole other level of intensity that comes in practices and in games."

Dixon said he liked what he saw from his starting five in Pitt's final exhibition.

"They're doing the best job defensively," Dixon said. "That's what's most important at this point."

He also mentioned that Tray Woodall and James Robinson are "interchangable" in the backcourt, but added that Robinson would be more likely to defend a shooting guard than Woodall given his size.

That and more can be heard in the interview here:
