Local Furniture Stores Seek Donations For Sandy Victims

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Local furniture stores are banding together to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims.

The effort is headed by furniture store PerLora, which is joining forces with other local businesses to raise money for the American Red Cross.

Customers at participating stores will be asked to donate $1 and some stores will make additional contributions.

PerLora Owner Perry Sigesmund says Pittsburgh was fortunate to be spared in Sandy's destruction, which is why locals should help out those affected by the hurricane.

"It's moments like these when we all need to join together to help those in need," Sigesmund said. "Lora and I knew we needed to find a way to get involved in our community."

Participating stores include Room Concepts, Today's Home, Levin Furniture, Weisshouse, Colonial Modern, Bradley Michaels and PerLora.

They will be fundraising through December.
