Illuminated "Ice Trees," Snowflakes New Attractions At Annual Santa Spectacular

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- They may not be your typical hallmarks of the holidays in most cities, but in Pittsburgh, nothing says Christmas like fireworks and fireballs.

Both will be featured in the 14th annual Duquesne Light Santa Spectacular with CBS Radio.

The event kicks off the holiday season, along with Light Up Night, this Friday, Nov. 16.

The Santa Spectacular will once again be held at Point State Park.

"We're very excited about it. It's everything for Pittsburgh families and it's truly become Pittsburgh's family tradition for the holidays," said CBS Radio Pittsburgh Vice President and Market Manager Michael Young.

Organizers held a news conference Tuesday night to show off a brand new light installation.

It features 12 LED "ice trees" and 30 huge snowflakes. It will be the first time the city side of the park will be illuminated during the holiday season.

A complete list of activities can be found at: www.SantaSpectacular.com

Also, rising teen star Greyson Chance will perform. Chance was discovered on YouTube by Ellen DeGeneres.
