Somerset Co. Murder Suspect Arrested In Louisiana

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A man wanted on homicide charges in Somerset County was arrested in Louisiana early Wednesday morning.

According to U.S. Marshals, Jonathan Beal, 21, was arrested at 6:45 a.m. by the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, in Marrero, La.

U.S. Marshals found him hiding in the bathroom of an ex-girlfriend's home. He was arrested without incident.

He is being processed and detained in Jefferson Parrish, La., and will eventually be extradited back to Pennsylvania.

"At this time, we are still investigating the circumstances on his travel to Louisiana," said Cpl. William Link, of Pennsylvania State Police in Somerset.

Beal is facing homicide and other charges in connection with the strangulation death of his former girlfriend, 19-year-old Justine Jackson.

Jackson went missing about two months ago and her body was found earlier this week in a wooded area of Larimer Township, Somerset County.

According to police, Jackson was strangled and dumped in a shallow grave.

Police served a search warrant at Beal's home before charging him with the murder.
