Downtown Festivities To Kickoff Holiday Season
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Thousands of people are expected to flock to downtown Pittsburgh for the annual Light Up Night and Santa Spectacular events to kick off the holiday season.
The festivities will begin at noon with Mayor Luke Ravenstahl lighting up City-County Building tree.
This year, the unity tree at the corner of Penn Avenue and Stanwix Street has more than 2,500 lights and 87 ornaments.
Later this evening, Santa will be in Point State Park for the Santa Spectacular.
Bands will be performing on stages at Point State Park and in Market Square and the night will be capped off with fireworks.
Public transportation riders are being advices that 50 bus routes will be detoured today and another 40 will be detoured tomorrow.
