Bar Closed For "Voluminous Drug Activity"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police closed a Washington County bar and arrested four people after a months-long investigation by police and state authorities.

The J & J Hotel and Bar on Main Street in Marianna was closed Friday after police uncovered "voluminous drug activity," after an extensive investigation.

Police and the Drug Task Force spent several months investigating the bar and buying drugs undercover.

The bar was allegedly a hub for many drug sales both inside the bar and in the surrounding areas, police said.

"Once the detectives were working in the bar it became clear that this bar was a base for drug sales in the Marianna area," Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone said.

Police say the bar became a target of investigation after numerous citizen complaints.

"It was clear that the people in the small community of Marianna had enough of the drug activity that was occurring in this bar," Vittone said.

Four men were arrested Friday night in relation to the investigation, including Victor Jones, Eugene Sanders, David Housel and David Brown.

The district attorney has not said what they are charged with.

Officials say the bar will remain padlocked until further notice and hope to close it as a drug nuisance.
