1 In Custody After Police Surround Building In Manchester

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police took one person into custody after a shooting incident prompted authorities to surround a building in Pittsburgh's Manchester section Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, the incident began when a Pittsburgh narcotics detective driving in an unmarked car along Chateau Street witnessed someone in an SUV firing a gun at a pedestrian.

The SUV sped off after the shots were fired, but police found the vehicle abandoned a few blocks away from the scene.

Meanwhile, a caller dialed 911 and told officials that he saw someone tossing a gun outside of a building along Manhattan Street, which is also just a few blocks from Chateau Street.

Police surrounded the building and one person was taken into police custody, believed to be the person who was inside the SUV.

Authorities located the gun on the rooftop of a neighboring building.

Investigators have not been able to find the pedestrian from the initial shooting incident. But officials say he was not hit in the gunfire.
