Fans Concerned As Injuries Continue To Pile Up For Steelers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - After two straight loses, the Pittsburgh Steelers' injury list is now getting a lot of attention.

The Steelers are still in contention for a Wild Card spot to make the playoffs, but there are several critical positions where the starters have been sidelined.

To make matters worse, the Steelers go on the road this weekend to take on the division-leading Baltimore Ravens.

Fans are gravely concerned about the status of the quarterback position. They want to know if Ben Roethlisberger is well enough to play, or will they have to go with Charlie Batch again.

It's a game where a win is needed if they hope to stay in the playoff race.

"I'm going to say 50-50. I don't want to see him come back too soon and get more hurt. He was very lucky the last time. I'm optimistic. I think he can come back and I think we can pull it out," one fan said.

The stage is set for a possible Roethlesberger return on Sunday. Although his shoulder still hurts, we're told his rib injury is no longer life-threatening.

Hhead coach Mike Tomlin said Batch would be the starter during his weekly press conference Tuesday. However, Roethlisberger is taking steps toward playing and will be monitored throughout the week.

"Charlie Batch almost won against the Ravens two years ago. Give him another shot," one man said.

The Steelers have one more alternative with newly-signed quarterback Brian Hoyer, who hasn't had much time to study the playbook.
