Police Probe Fatal Shooting In Lawrenceville

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Lawrenceville Thursday night.

It happened just before 10 p.m. in the 4700-block of Butler Street.

From the outside, the red brick building where it happened, looks like an apartment.

But investigators say it is also a recording studio.

They believe 25-year-old Solomon Burton knocked on the door of apartment no. 5 and when the door was opened, those inside saw Burton was armed with a gun.

The people inside also had a gun.

They shut the door on Burton, then fired through it.

Burton was hit several times, twice in the chest, killing him.

A gun was found outside the door.

Several people were inside the second floor studio.

Four of them were detained, but none of them were arrested.

Police believe more people were inside, but somehow left without being questioned.

According to the medical examiner's office burton was from Mount Lebanon, although police initially said he was from Garfield.

The murder is still under investigation.
