Police: Motorist Hit By Bullet In South Fayette Township

SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police are investigating after a man was struck by a bullet while driving along a road in South Fayette Township on Friday.

Authorities say the incident happened around 5:15 p.m. along Cecil Reissing Road.

According to South Fayette Township Police Chief Louis Volle, the victim was driving along the road in his pickup truck when two shots were fired. He was struck in the back by one of those shots.

"He was driving a pickup truck," said Chief Volle. "The bullet went through the toolbox in the back of the pickup truck, the items inside that toolbox, the cab of the truck, the seats of the truck and it hit him in the back."

Police say the man was taken to Mercy Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The investigation continues. Police say they are currently waiting for ballistics to come back and have talked to two witnesses.

"There was two people that we found that we interviewed, and we got conflicting stories," Chief Volle said. "We're still investigating their stories to find out what happened out there."

South Fayette Police, Allegheny County Homicide and the Pennsylvania Game Commission are investigating.
