Local Hair Salon Manager Tells Story After Being Held At Gunpoint

KENNEDY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The manager of a local hair salon was back at work on Monday, just days after being held up at gunpoint. She says she thought she was going to die.

For hair stylist Jessie Kearns, coming to work Monday morning was a little more challenging than usual.

On Friday night, she was the victim of a hold-up at the BoRics hair salon she manages in Kennedy Township.

Her ordeal began when she greeted the would-be robber at the front desk.

"I said, 'Can I help you?' And he said, 'Yeah, give me all your money,'" Kearns told KDKA.

At first, she didn't think the man was serious, but then she heard something make a clicking sound.

"I heard the gun cock, and then he pointed it at me. I opened the register as quickly as I could," she said. "He took me in the back room, took my phone, took my co-worker's cell phone and went out the back door."

Police are working with surveillance video of the robbery to try to track down the culprit.
