Bill Peduto To Run For Mayor In Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Pittsburgh City Councilman Bill Peduto is running for mayor.
Peduto made the announcement at a packed party in the Strip District Thursday night.
County Executive Rich Fitzgerald was on hand to introduce Peduto to supporters. During his announcement he said he will not run for another term on City Council.
"We have to make sure the same things that are happening in the East End are happening in neighborhoods like Beltzhoover, in neighborhoods like Homewood, in Carrick and throughout this city. We have to provide the same opportunities for everyone," Peduto said.
Peduto lost in the 2005 mayoral primary and aborted a short-lived campaign in 2007.
