CMU Grad Fights Tom Cruise In 'Jack Reacher'

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A local student landed a role in the new Tom Cruise movie, "Jack Reacher."

You'll see him pulling a gun on Cruise's character as well as throwing a punch at him, which required some special fight training.

His name is Denver Milord and he is now a graduate of the Carnegie Mellon's School of Drama.

KDKA-TV first introduced you to Milord in an episode of our newsmagazine, "Your Pittsburgh," but that was before this clip where he pulls a gun on Cruise's character was released.

Milord filmed four scenes and even had to throw a punch at Cruise, which required a whole day of fight training.

"You're not actually going full out, whacking him - because yeah it's Tom Cruise - there's a lot of nerves involved with that," Milord said.

Milord gets elbowed in the face and he showed KDKA-TV's David Highfield how they taught him to pull off that move.

Milord said you make contact, but pull back.

Milord's character does what any wise punk would do and runs away.

"For a young actor coming out of school it just couldn't have been a better experience," Milord said.

Milord said tells Cruise was great to work with.

He said he sat with him for a half hour or so giving him advice on how to get started in the business.
