Xbox Live Buddy Calls 911 After Hearing Home Invasion Through Headset

NORTH APOLLO (KDKA) – Police are looking for a suspect in connection with a home invasion in North Apollo Thursday afternoon.

According to police, a masked assailant entered a home on Cochran Avenue around 2:45 p.m.

A man in his mid-20s was upstairs playing video games on his Xbox Live and the player on the other end was the one who called 9-1-1.

The suspect allegedly pulled a gun and a knife, tied the victim up with duct tape, ransacked the house and stole the victim's car.

By Friday morning, police said they had recovered the car.

"As he went down the stairwell, a guy met him with a gun and knife," the victim's father,  Skip Shaffer said. "Pinned him to the stairwell, zip tied his hands and feet, took him upstairs, duct taped him, put him face down and continued to ransack the house."

Shaffer, who owns the house, is grateful his son wasn't harmed as he begins to add up what was taken.

"We got our first walk through they got several handguns, all of my wife's diamond jewelry. The list is pretty extensive. It's going to take us a little while to put it together," Skip Shaffer said.

Police said the suspect also got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The stolen car was recovered in Kittanning Thursday night.

No arrests have been made at this time.
