Man Arrested Following Clairton Standoff

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The man accused of a shooting rampage Nov. 23 is now in police custody after a standoff Thursday afternoon.

Police responded to a house at the intersection of St. Clair and Waddell avenues, reportedly looking for a wanted suspect.

A county SWAT team was also on scene.

The man, Cornell Hurt, is accused of firing more than 40 rounds in a Clairton neighborhood Nov. 23.

Police said he was settling a family feud and Hurt's family has resulted to gun battles with other families in the past.

However, he fired rounds into four houses not related to his feud.

No one was injured, but a 5-year-old narrowly avoided injury after 10 rounds were sprayed at his house.

During the standoff Thursday, nearby Clairton High School was on lockdown for about an hour, but has since been secured.
