Derkosh Family Gives Trucks To "Tree Of Hope"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Hundreds of children gathered together Friday night to remember the little boy killed at the Pittsburgh zoo.

The family of 2-year-old Maddox Derkosh chose to honor the little boy by donating toy trucks for the "Tree of Hope" annual Christmas celebration.

The donations are specifically for children who lost a parent to violence.

Organizers said the Derkosh family donated more than 100 trucks to the "Tree of Hope" organization.

"And with the help of wonderful major funders, we thank the Derkosh's so much, the Derkosh family who gave us all these trucks for our children," Adrienne Young with the organization said. "And Maddox is going to be remembered in a special way tonight."

This is the 13th year for "Tree of Hope."
