Pittsburgh Sports Fans Left With Nothing To Root For

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- For the second week in a row, Ben Roethlisberger threw an interception that led to a Steelers loss.

But a heart-breaking field goal by the Bengals officially kicked the Steelers out of the playoffs.

"Disappointing, yeah we're depressed, naturally," one Steelers fan said. "But hey, it happens."

"I think this is the first year I got up and walked away from the TV when the Steelers were playing," another fan said.

There was always hope that the Steelers would turn things around.

The only hope now is they won't end the season with a losing record

"Got to wait till next year, just a lot of blame you know," a fan said. "It is what it is."

"They gave it away, they been doing this all season long they just haven't had that killer instinct," another Steelers fan said.

This has not been a good year for Pittsburgh-area sports on the college and professional levels.

"Terrible, terrible and the greatest town in the world for sports it is," a Pittsburgh sports fan said.

The Steelers season will end next week, the penguins never got started due to the lockout, the pirates –well, you know what happened to their season.

With no hometown team to cheer for what should Pittsburgers do this winter?

"Paint the house, do our honey do list," one Pittsburgher said.

There are other alternatives, like Robert Morris University's hockey and college basketball.

"Pitt never got it's share," one of the Pittsburgh sports fans said. "It's been a great program for years and years so maybe people will start jumping on the bandwagon start talking about it and, you know, people will start rooting for the Panthers."
