The two girls were out sledding while on winter break from school.
“Going out and doing what teenagers do,” Prusia’s father, Duane, said.
Prusia died after she hit a tree. She was pronounced dead at Children’s Hospital.
“We learned later that she likely passed on the hill or on the way to Children’s,” Duane Prusia said.READ MORE: Person Hit, Killed By Driver Of Vehicle In Monroeville On Route 22
Prusia’s parents say she was very active at Kiski Area High School, where she was a junior.
The teen played several instruments, was on the volleyball team and in band at her high school, as well as a devout Christian, her parents said. Prusia left behind a prayer journal that her parents discovered after returning home from the hospital.
“And just to see in her life, a young innocent woman turning into a virtuous woman on paper is just a precious gift that she left,” Duane Prusia said.
Prusia’s parents say they’ve had a lot of support from friends and family since their daughter’s death.MORE NEWS: ACLU, Voter Groups Sue In Ohio Over New Legislative Maps
