State Police Issue Arrest Warrant In Derry Twp. Murder

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- State police have issued an arrest warrant and reward as they continue to search for the suspect wanted in the shooting death of a man in Westmoreland County over the weekend.

According to investigators, the suspect is accused of fatally shooting another man who was allegedly planning to rob him over the weekend.

State police have identified the suspect as 20-year-old Ronell Moses, Jr., of Pittsburgh. He's charged with criminal homicide in the death of 24-year-old Michael Volk of New Florence.

Volk was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in a trailer off of Stone Quarry Road in Derry Township, not far from the old Torrance State Hospital.

Moses is also charged with kidnapping for allegedly holding three other people, along with two children, in the trailer at gunpoint until his getaway ride arrived.

Investigators say the people who were held captive told police that they had allegedly conspired with the murder victim to rob Moses, but they didn't know his name.

They only described him as an African American man who was known to them as "Mitch."

Police released surveillance photos of the man in Wal-Mart the day before the murder. He was later identified as Moses.

Police arrested those three people, identified as Danielle Clawson, Tiffany Blatternberger and Jesus Santiago, earlier this week. They were being held in the Westmoreland County Jail on charges of conspiracy to commit criminal homicide and robbery.

Moses is not yet in custody. He is considered armed and dangerous.

If you have information on his whereabouts, you are asked to call Pennsylvania State Police.
